Septebmer 21st, 2024 12:30PM

ABOUT

Filling out the Common App's basic information is not so basic after all.

In fact, it’s trickier than many people anticipate. But, when done right, it gives your student a tremendous leg up.

Many parents make the mistake of thinking students can just whip through this part of the college application process. There are tried and true tricks of the trade that will help your student’s common app stand out from the rest.

*Important to note: this bootcamp will focus only on completion of the Common App application itself, not the essays or the supplements.

- Show you how to put together a master calendar to keep track of everything and stay organized.
- Demystify the Common App portion of the application.
Common App (Part 1) Fill In.
Here, we will hand-hold you through filling out the first part of the Common App and:

- Decide whether to waive FERPA rights for your recommendations.
- Decide how many recommendations you need, as every school has different requirements.
- Show you how to invite recommenders.

- Explain the nuances in each section.
- Help you decide what to put in the Honors section (even if you don't have many honors).
Activities Section Breakdown.
Many parents don't know that most colleges don't accept resumes. Instead, colleges will only learn about your student's activities in this section of the application. This makes this section of the application especially important.

We'll cover:
- How to convey your impact in your activities in a small amount of space.
- How to order your activities.
- How to properly calculate your hours of commitment.
- Best practices for formatting.
Common App (Part 2) Fill In.
Here, we'll put pen to paper and put together a compelling Activities Section with your student.
